Sure Completes Acquisition of Airtel Vodafone, Promising £48M Investment in 5G Network

Telecoms company Sure has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of rival Airtel Vodafone in the Channel Islands, following approval from the States of Guernsey to temporarily suspend competition laws to facilitate the deal.

The £48 million investment will go towards developing a state-of-the-art 5G mobile network, with Sure pledging to deliver "significant improvements" in connectivity, speeds, coverage, and value for money through innovative products and services.

Alistair Beak, CEO of Sure Group, emphasized that the two companies would collaborate closely, combining Airtel Vodafone's expertise with Sure’s resources to enhance customer experience. Beak also reassured Airtel customers that they could continue on their current plans for up to three years, with no immediate changes for either Airtel Vodafone or Sure customers, as both companies will continue to operate separately for the time being.
